Ministry Update

We pray this update finds you all doing well. Our intention with our blog page is to keep you all informed of the work God is doing here in Nicaragua. We're coming up soon on our 1 year anniversary of being here and we are so excited about the experiences God has allowed us to have and the opportunities He continues to provide. Here are some highlights:

We were able to surprise Kaylee for her 18th birthday with a combined party/English Academy activity. She really enjoyed being able to celebrate with her Nicaraguan friends. For her present, she spent a day zip-lining, eating at Papa John's, and touring Granada.  We were thankful to be able to create a special memory for her.

We were also very thankful to be able to spend Christmas with our families. We enjoyed every minute of our time together.

As we have been seeking areas for Bible study and discipling, here are some opportunities God has provided:

On Monday mornings, Eric, Kaylee, and Roberto, Eric's interpreter, travel to the village of San Antonio for a weekly Bible study. They leave around lunch time, travel by bus, taxi, and foot, and return around  8:00. Eric has been providing Pastor Frank with sermons on a nano. He has also been providing audio chapters of the Bible for those who can't read.

We have been able to help another missionary family feed and share the gospel with the village of La Cornetta.

Kaylee has been attending Vida Joven (Young Life) here in our city on Wednesday (activity/devotion) and Friday (Bible study) evenings. This has been a great way for her to meet other young people who love the Lord and has provided us with further opportunities for outreach.

One of the highlights of our week is our Sunday evening Bible study in our home. We meet at 5:00 for an hour of studying God's Word. The rest of the evening is spent eating dinner and fellowshipping. We have fallen in love with our new friends. We know it's all about relationships, first with our Heavenly Father, and then with each other.

Our last update for this blog is our visit from the Perry family and Wendy's mom. They were here from Jan.17-Feb.4th. They were able to participate in several different ministries, including attending The English Academy's first graduation. They were also able to help us make games to use in our recreation ministry.  We enjoyed their time here with us serving the Lord.  Wendy's mom was impressive during the whole week walking all over Matagalpa, up our hills, in the village and to the waterfall and cave.  She helped us in so many ways during the week as we all were able to minister to families here in Matagalpa and the villages.

October Update

Academy Activity

On a Friday night we had our activity at the English Academy.  Our activity for the night was a
photo scavenger hunt.  We had a list of locations/items in English and the teams had to figure
what the items were and then find them and take a picture.  The team we worked with were
the boys that have become our friends in our neighborhood.  They had a blast and came in
second place.  We always take time to have a devotion and share about Jesus Christ.  The
boys keep asking about when the next activity is going to be.  We love these boys.

NICA Friends/Games/Coffee

God has blessed us with many new friends here in Nicaragua.  We have the opportunity to serve them and
also have them help us serve the Lord for his glory!!!

Quinceanera

On Sunday October 14th we attended the Quincinuera of Pastor Frank's daughter, Rosa Rebeca , at our
village at San Antonio.  This celebration is for girls when they turn 15 years old.  They walked about one
half mile to the church and the whole celebration last over 5 hours.

San Antonio Friends

These are the faces of some of the children and youth at San Antonio that we have come to love.
God has blessed us with these new friends and given us the opportunity to speak into their lives
the love of Christ.

Kaylee

Excitement always follows Kaylee.  She sprained ligaments and broke a bone in her foot, she is voting
for the first time, and she is turning eighteen in November.
Bible Studies

We began our Bible studies during October in Matagalpa and also at our village in San Antonio.  What a
blessing to spend each week teaching others how to understand the Bible and fall in love with Jesus.  We
love these days.

God has blessed us with a wonderful month of studies, allowing us to travel to the village at San Antonio
to study God's word.  My brother in Christ, Roberto, was a tremendous benefit as we worked together
to discuss God's sovereign unchanging plan with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit from before creation
through Christ's ultimate return to take us home with him for eternity to delight in God and give
him glory.

The consistency of God's message in his love letter to us in 66 books, written over 1500 years, by 40 authors,
in 3 languages with no electricity; no phone, internet, text or twitter; travel by foot or animal and PROVEN
over time by his unfolding history is amazing. We are always humbled that his plan is to work through us to
reach others with his message.  We understand Paul's excitement about teaching others about God's love
and how to love him in return.
