This is Mercedes and her 8 year old daughter Ingrid.
This is their home in the community of Lucidia Mantilla in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Numerous pieces of plastic and sticks making up a house approximately six feet by six feet with a dirt floor, plastic beds, no kitchen and no bathroom. Their is no clean water and they bathe and wash their clothes in the river where garbage, human waste and chemicals flow.
Based on a sponsorship from the United States to build Mercedes and Ingrid a new home and our prepared team of missionaries and fellow citizens on the ground in Nicaragua the project to help build a new home and a new life begins.
First it takes a lot of measuring and digging with everyone taking turns in the trenches.
Then we poured the footers and start going vertical with brick. Brick requires many people performing different roles for things to progress smoothly. We have to get water from the river, mix the sand, cement & water, wet the brick, lay the brick and finish the brick.
We now have walls rising with doors and windows becoming visible. We are about a day away from finishing the walls and then we can start on the roof, floor and finishing touches with windows, doors and furniture necessities.
Loading up after a successful day. Mercedes and Ingrid saying goodbye. We are going home to rest up for another productive day tomorrow. A few of our team will sit down with Mercedes and Ingrid tomorrow to give them Bibles to start daily devotions and share with them about God also meeting their spiritual need for eternity. This is the ultimate goal--please pray for this family's physical and spiritual need. GOD is AWESOME!!!!
