Hola!!!! Sorry for the long delay since our last post.  We have been in the process of moving to our new rental house and taking care of all the preparations.  Things are not as accessible here (we have a new appreciation for Wal-Mart and Target) and processes do not move as fast.  We moved in on May 8th and we are scheduled to have internet access by the start of next week (if they do not extend the date again).  Things are much quieter at our new location and Kaylee loves the hammock on the back porch.  Life here is like going back in time we are adjusting.  We walk between 4-8 miles each day.  We stop at the street market each day to purchase food for dinner—plenty of fresh bread, vegetables and fruits from the vendors.

We had the opportunity on April 27th to attend a fundraiser with local dance and music groups. They were raising money to help teach the illiterate how to read and write.  We appreciated learning more about the Nicaraguan culture.

On April 30th we were able to take a road trip, with the help of our friends Norman & Virginia, to Masatepe, Masaya and Managua to get necessary furniture and supplies for our house.  The furniture was purchased from a shack on the side of the road owned by an experienced furniture maker.  Our appliances were purchased in Managua at a dangerous market called Orientale where they say you can buy anything including a cruise missile.  While in Managua we also took advantage of the opportunity to eat some American food at Pizza Hut and McDonalds.

We continue to attend Spanish classes three days a week and Jorge, our teacher, is speaking more in Spanish now and going very fast.  Some days we are lost and our heads are spinning.  Before you start appreciating what you are learning you realize what you do not know and how much you need to learn and it can be frustrating.  Wendy had NO background with Spanish and she has been spending lots of extra time trying to get it down.

Our ministry activities continue with preparations for our summer projects at the village at Delirius building a school and helping with the clean water project, the Saturday morning English class for underprivileged children, Sunday night Bible Study with our English Academy students, Bi-weekly Saturday night Youth Night activities, and one-to-one relationship building with new friends.

Kaylee and Wendy have been helping each afternoon at our English Academy, Kaylee has been attending Young Life on Wednesday nights with Lydia and also the La Fuente youth group with her new friends, Julissa, Wesley, Marlen, and Osiris—who all love the Lord.  Kaylee went with their youth group Friday night to share the Gospel in the park.

I recently attended English classes at UCAN University, a Christian college, with Jairo, one of our interpreters, and have been invited to volunteer and help teach English classes to these college students.  These students come from all over Nicaragua majoring in degrees such as nursing, medical technology, business and engineering.  They average about 50 students in each of these classes and it is an excellent way to get to know more of the people and learn more Spanish.
